Alexey Lubkov presented the traditions, achievements and plans of the delegation headed by him, referred to the international structures involved in Russian language issues, and showed interest in the work of the Language Committee.
David Gyurjinyan introduced the functions of the Language Committee. He brought the participants’ attention to the fact that there are neither Armenian language courses at MSPU , nor training courses for future professionals of the Armenian language, though there is a huge number of Armenians living in Russia. The absence of Armenian schools and classes, will lead to the impending loss of Armenian language. He reminded about the traditions of Armenian studies and instruction in pre-soviet Russia. (The Lazarian Seminary in Moscow, the Saint Petersburg University, etc.)
The head of Russian Delegation gave a positive feedback to the proposal, mentioning that Moscow State Pedagogical University will undertake practical measures to organize the teaching of the Armenian language.
