Events of the third Yerevan fair of junior books on different themes will be held February 19-21, within the frameworks of which different excursions will be organized, individual and group visits will be paid, and various events will be conducted. Director of National Children’s Library after Khnko Aper Ruzanna Tonoyan said at today’s press conference that the goal of the event is to make the book available to the reader.
The number of the publishing-houses participating in the event is 24. Chairman of “Edit Print” publishing-house, Director of the National Association of Publishing-Houses Mkrtich Karapetyan noted that in 2010-2012 years events will be organized in all the provinces of Armenia. He said that preliminary works are already being carried out in the province of Kotayk. “The book must be advertised, it must be presented to the reader in a right way,” M. Karapetyan said.
Executive Director of the Armenian Association of Book-Publishers Vahan Khachatryan agreeing with his partner added that to advertise book means to screen it, to show with its whole colors and images. Chairman of “Media Holding”, Director of “Antares” publishing-house Armen Martirosyan complained about the state of the libraries, for the latter are in poor conditions especially in provinces, which hinders that the book is made available to the reader properly. “The work carried out toward presenting the Armenian literature in other languages must be activated,” A. Martirosyan noted.
During the days of the third fair of junior books meetings of readers will take place with publishers, representatives of the Embassies of USA and Iran, writers, children story writers, who will present the contemporary Armenian literature, the role and significance of the book.
